International Women’s day

On Thursday, 12 March 2020, marked Dominic College’s, Glenorchy, Tasmania, International Women’s Day Breakfast.

International Women’s day is a day where we celebrate women’s achievements, to raise awareness for women’s rights, to acknowledge influential women in our lives, and to empower each other.

Dear Friend of the Salesian Missions,
I am writing at this particularly difficult time where the whole world has been confronted by the COVID-19 pandemic. In Australia the repercussions have been felt with the closure of many businesses, services and other “lockdown” restrictions. I know that many of you and your families are facing difficult challenges in these times of uncertainty.

The Salesians of Don Bosco are well placed to enact a co-ordinated response to the global COVID-19 pandemic.

In 134 countries around the world, they are working at the grassroots levels within communities providing daily essential services such as education, healthcare, shelter and nutrition.

A major humanitarian crisis looms in the forthcoming post-pandemic era.

The “Lockdown” in Australia, Europe, the United States, China, Japan, India and other nations has deregulated the global economy where activity is now at a low level.

The Australian Salesian Missions Overseas Aid Fund (ASMOAF) in conjunction with the Australian Social Communications team, have released a new video that celebrates the progress of a significant milestone in its Pacific Project – Fiji Youth and Educational Centre. The video updates donors on the impact of their contributions whilst highlighting the potential of the centre and the need for further support.
